About Nicola

Short bio: Nicola Scruby is a Brisbane nutritionist (BHSc Clinical Nutrition), mum of three and the founder of Unrefined Nutrients, the wholefood protein brand behind Kids Immune Protein, now used by 50,000 Australian families. She shares honest, funny, no-judgement family food and mum life with 139k followers on Instagram @the__unrefined.

The story: Before Unrefined Nutrients, Nicola had six businesses fail, one of them closing 40K in debt. When her son had the flu and barely ate for two weeks, she asked what he'd eat if he could have anything. He said "a choccy milkshake". That milkshake became Kids Immune Protein, which she launched in May 2025 while pregnant with her third. The first batch sold out in two weeks. Seventeen months later, sales have passed $5 million and 50,000 families use her products. Her husband Mitch, a GP, helps behind the scenes, and five of her reels about him have passed a million views.
